WELCOME to our exciting range of MEDITATION TIMERS & CHIMERS here at the SanghaShop: In the Monastery zendo during pre-dawn zazen, the deep silence is broken only by the faint murmur of the mountain stream. A mellow, resonant ting! of the inkin sounds once, then twice, to bring us gently and clearly out of a period of meditation into focused activity. In our homes, it is not so easy to begin and end the time we have dedicated to meditation so smoothly. We must break our concentration to focus our eyes on a watch or clock. Some people use alarm clocks, even kitchen timers, others burn incense, and some rely on their inner sense of passing time. For home practice, we have found that a specially designed meditation timer frees us from keeping time.
